By Direction Générale

National magazine Forum Libre devoted a full-page feature to Professor Serge Blaise Emaleu, CEO of CHSMRI, and his role in finalizing the ELFIC 2025 Conference proceedings on Lassa fever in Abuja, August 17-21, 2026.

In its August 25, 2026 issue (N°416), national magazine Forum Libre devoted a full-page feature to Professor Serge Blaise Emaleu, Chief Executive Officer of the Camassistance Health Science Management and Research Institute (CHSMRI), and his participation in the work finalizing the International Conference on Lassa Fever (ELFIC 2025), held in Abuja from August 17 to 21, 2026.

Organized by the West African Health Organization (WAHO) in partnership with ECOWAS, the workshop brought together policymakers, researchers, and international experts to finalize the scientific supplements arising from the ELFIC 2025 Conference. More than 800 scientists and public health actors from 32 countries contributed manuscripts now aligned with the requirements of the Journal of Epidemiology and Global Health (JEGH) ahead of final publication.

The article highlights the decisive technical and strategic role played by Professor Emaleu, also an expert with the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), in building lasting operational bridges between the West and Central African sub-regions. ‘The fight against Lassa fever, like other public health emergencies, demands a paradigm shift. It calls for a collective, cross-cutting response, rigorously grounded in science, preventive surveillance, and innovation,’ he stated during the discussions.

This media recognition confirms CHSMRI's position as a leading actor and strategic center of excellence in Africa, committed to research, cross-border surveillance, and the sustainable financing of health security across the continent. Read the full story on the Abuja mission.
