Public Health & Epidemiology

Professor Seydou Doumbia is a distinguished medical doctor, academic leader, and internationally renowned epidemiologist with over three decades of experience in infectious disease research, global health security, and institutional capacity building. Since 2012, he has served as a Full Professor of Epidemiology at the Faculty of Medicine and Odontostomatology (FMOS) within the University of Sciences, Techniques and Technologies of Bamako (USTTB), where he previously completed a landmark ten-year tenure as Dean from 2014 to 2024. He is also the Director of the University Clinical Research Center (UCRC) and the President of the Malian Society of Epidemiology (SOMEPI). Dr. Doumbia is a global leader in tropical medicine, serving as the Principal Investigator (PI) for major international research programs funded by the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the European Union. His current large-scale projects include the West Africa International Center of Excellence for Malaria Research (ICEMR), the Mali-Guinea Emerging Infectious Diseases Research Training Program, and major global clinical trials addressing Lassa virus, Ebola vaccination (PREVAC-UP), and COVID-19 laboratory responses. Throughout his career, his operational leadership has guided strategic health policies for the World Health Organization (WHO), the CDC, and various ministries of health throughout West Africa. As an educator, Dr. Doumbia has been instrumental in institutionalizing public health architecture across the continent. He coordinates specialized master's programs in Disaster Risk Management, Implementation Research, and Research Ethics in collaboration with prestigious global institutions like Tulane University and George Washington University. His prolific academic contribution includes co-authoring over 250 peer-reviewed scientific publications with thousands of citations. Dr. Doumbia earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the National School of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bamako and a PhD in Epidemiology from Tulane University in New Orleans, USA. He holds postgraduate certifications in clinical epidemiology from the Institute of Tropical Medicine Antwerp, Belgium, and vector biology from Johns Hopkins University. He remains an active member of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH) and a founding member of the Malian Public Health Society (SOMASAP).

Medical Biology

Dr. Havérie Ghislaine Ateba Mimfoumou is a highly accomplished Medical Biologist and healthcare executive with over two decades of clinical, laboratory, and academic leadership in Cameroon. She currently serves as the Head of the Medical Analysis Laboratory and Blood Bank at Jamot Hospital in Yaoundé, a position she has held since January 2013. Additionally, she lends her expertise as a Medical Biologist to the CERIMED Medical Analysis Laboratory in Elig-Effa and as a lecturer at the University of Ebolowa. Dr. Ateba Mimfoumou has built an extensive career spanning laboratory management, clinical research, specialized training, and university-level instruction. Throughout her career, she has held key positions including General Practitioner at the Chantal Biya Foundation's Mother and Child Center, lecturer at the University of Ngaoundéré, and Head of Gynecology, Obstetrics, and Pediatrics at Bafia District Hospital. Her technical mastery encompasses advanced biological diagnosis in hematology, biochemistry, bacteriology, virology, parasitology, and mycology. A committed researcher and international collaborator, Dr. Ateba Mimfoumou has contributed to published scientific studies in infectious-disease serosurveillance and community health, including research on asymptomatic dengue virus transmission and the spread of SARS-CoV-2 among blood donors in Cameroon, as well as urinary schistosomiasis among school children. She has also taken part in major public health initiatives, including tuberculosis diagnostics (TB-LAMP) and the Global Fund and African Society for Laboratory Medicine (ASLM) LabCop programmes. Dr. Ateba Mimfoumou holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in General Medicine (2004) and a specialized Advanced Studies Diploma (DES) in Clinical Biology (2012) from the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Yaoundé I. She is fluent in French, with a professional working knowledge of English and a mastery of her native Ewondo.

Public Health & Epidemiology

Dr. Gisèle Mbuyi wa Mulambu Mpoyi is a distinguished medical doctor, public health expert, epidemiologist, and global health security specialist with over 20 years of expertise in disease surveillance, emergency preparedness, and outbreak response in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and across the African region. She currently serves as the Division Chief of Epidemics, Emergencies, and Catastrophes at the Directorate of Epidemiological Surveillance within the DRC Ministry of Public Health, Hygiene and Prevention. In this capacity, she leads the national coordination of the surveillance pillars for major public health crises, including the integrated Mpox response, COVID-19, and Ebola Virus Disease (EVD). An expert in Public Health Emergency Management (PHEM/CDC-Atlanta alumni 7th cohort) and Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response (IDSR), Dr. Mbuyi has been central to the execution of national Joint External Evaluations (JEE), training of IDSR trainers and the deployment of electronic early-warning surveillance systems (EWARS). Beyond her ministerial duties, she is a senior technical consultant for major international organizations. She has recently acted as a Team Lead for the World Bank's REDISSE IV project to shape the DRC's National Multi-Hazard Preparedness Plan, a WHO External Evaluator in the Republic of the Congo, and a strategic advisor for Johns Hopkins University's Breakthrough ACTION initiative to draft the National Health Security Action Plan (PANSS 2025–2029). Dr. Mbuyi is a leading voice in the One Health movement, representing the DRC at successive World One Health Congresses and authoring collaborative training modules with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for Community Based Surveillance. She is also a lead trainer for national and provincial Rapid Response Teams (RRT) under the WHO SURGE project. As a researcher, she ihas contributed to widely published in high-impact international journals, including The Lancet Infectious Diseases and The American journal of tropical medicine and hygiene, on the Ebola and COVID-19. Dr. Mbuyi holds a Doctorate in General Medicine, Surgery, and Obstetrics from the University of Kinshasa, a Master of Public Health from the Université Libre de Bruxelles, and a Master in Eco-Epidemiology, Hazards, and Risk Management from the University of Kinshasa. She also holds a University Diploma in Statistical Methods in Health from the Université Victor Segalen Bordeaux 2 in France. Currently she’s a PhD candidate at the Ecole Doctorale des Sciences de la Santé (ECODOC) in Environnement and Eco-epidemiology departement of Institut Supérieur des Techniques Médicales of DRC. She is fluent in French and has a strong professional command of English.

Dr. Antoine Okitandjate Dimandja is an internationally recognized epidemiologist, biostatistician, and public health expert with over two decades of experience in health emergency management, infectious disease control, and global health security. He currently serves as the Field Coordinator for Mpox and Epidemiologist for the World Health Organization (WHO) in the Sankuru Province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). In this capacity, he leads a multidisciplinary team of experts in prevention, epidemiological surveillance, case management, and logistical response. Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Okitandjate Dimandja has provided high-level technical and strategic advisory services to global health agencies, including WHO/AFRO and Johns Hopkins University. As a Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA) Advisor for Johns Hopkins University, he drove strategic partnerships, managed multi-province project evaluations, and guided Ministry of Health teams. His extensive field experience features frontline leadership during major public health crises, where he served as a Lead Epidemiologist during multiple Ebola virus outbreaks (including in Likati, Bikoro, and Mangina), managed cholera epidemics, and coordinated COVID-19 container strategies and contact-tracing efforts across the DRC and the Union of Comores. An expert in the International Health Regulations (IHR 2005) and Joint External Evaluations (JEE), Dr. Okitandjate Dimandja has acted as an international evaluator and consultant, facilitating national health security action plans and multi-risk emergency response frameworks for nations such as Benin, Mali, and the Central African Republic. His early career includes foundational leadership as a Chief Medical Officer and Hospital Director in the Tanganyika health zone. Dr. Okitandjate Dimandja holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Lubumbashi, a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the Universite Libre de Bruxelles, and a PhD in Public Health from the University of Lubumbashi. A prolific researcher, he is widely published on the socio-environmental determinants of cholera and Ebola. He is fluent in French, Swahili, and Lingala, with a professional working proficiency in English.

Dr DJIM-ADJIM-NGANA Karyom is a dedicated and passionate young Cameroonian researcher with a strong educational background. He holds a PhD in infectious diseases and tropical médecine, Master in Public Health and a Master in Clinical Biology from the University of Ngaoundere. Currently pursuing his PhD in Public Health, he has shown exceptional commitment to addressing emerging and re-emerging diseases, particularly antimicrobial resistance.

Obstetrics, Gynaecology & Maternal Health

Dr. Tchechem Calvin is a highly accomplished Cameroonian physician, OB-GYN, and clinical expert with over 25 years of experience specialising in maternal, neonatal, and child health. He currently serves as the Head of Maternal Care Services at the Mother and Child Center of the Chantal Biya Foundation in Yaoundé, a leadership position he has held since 2001. Dr. Calvin is widely recognised as an expert in reproductive health, healthcare planning, and the clinical management and prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV (PMTCT). Throughout his career, Dr. Calvin has driven critical public health and clinical training initiatives across Cameroon. Since 2012, he has provided formative supervision for gynaecologists and midwives across healthcare facilities in the Center and West regions. He has acted as a primary trainer for the Ministry of Public Health, WHO, UNICEF, and EGPAF, leading regional workshops on Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care (CEONC), option B+ PMTCT services, and national antiretroviral (ARV) integration protocols. His early clinical career includes key service at the Main Maternity unit of the Yaoundé Central Hospital. Dr. Calvin holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) in General Medicine, an advanced specialisation in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and a PhD in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia in Moscow, which he completed with the highest distinction. His doctoral research focused on the role of lysosomes in the pathology of endometriosis and uterine fibroids. Committed to continuous professional development, Dr. Calvin holds additional postgraduate certificates in healthcare management, health economics, and a Higher Studies Certificate (CES) in Health Informatics. He has completed specialised advanced international training at the Suzanne Mubarak Regional Centre in Egypt and the Beijing Traditional Chinese Medicine Research Institute in China. Dr. Calvin is registered with both the National Order of Medical Doctors of Cameroon and the Cameroon Society of Gynaecologists and Obstetricians. He is trilingual, speaking Russian and French fluently, alongside a professional command of English.

Sociology & Sustainable Development

Dr. Clémence Mboutcheu is a highly skilled Cameroonian sociologist and sustainable development consultant with specialized expertise in population and development, environmental sociology, project monitoring, and data architecture. She currently serves as an Associate Lecturer at the University of Yaoundé I, facilitating seminars and supporting graduate student research within the Department of Sociology. Dr. Mboutcheu is recognized for her extensive field research across Cameroon and the Central African Republic (CAR), focusing on the intersection of community rights, socioeconomic development, and natural resource management. Dr. Mboutcheu has built a versatile track record providing strategic data collection and qualitative analysis for prominent international organizations and ministries. She has collaborated regularly with the Groupe d'Experts Évaluateurs Indépendants (GEEI) on critical international environmental conservation projects, serving as an Expert and Data Analyst for the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and UNESCO. Her notable conservation assignments include re-engineering management and business plans for the Mbaéré-Bodingué National Park in CAR, evaluating co-management public-private frameworks in the Dzanga-Sangha Protected Areas, and evaluating local community development programs within the Yangambi Biosphere Reserve in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. In the public health sector, Dr. Mboutcheu has operated as a Regional Supervisor and investigator for the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), designing analytical tools, training regional investigators, and leading large-scale field collections across Cameroon regarding health leadership evaluation, malaria tracking, and vaccination programs. Her public sector experience also includes consulting for Cameroon's Ministry of Tourism and Leisure to author the national master plan for tourist site development, and advising the Ministry of Employment on socio-feasibility studies for regional textile competence centers. Dr. Mboutcheu holds a Bachelor's degree, a Master's degree in the Management of Development Projects, and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Sociology with the highest distinction (Très Honorable) from the University of Yaoundé I. Her doctoral thesis comprehensively examined protected area management and ecotourism dynamics across the Bénoué, Campo Ma'an, Lobéké, and Santchou wildlife reserves. She is an active scientific communicator, widely published on ecotourism and community rights, and holds advanced training in child protection and transformational leadership from UNICEF and the Life Success Institute. She is a native French speaker, holds professional fluency in English, and speaks Fulfulde.

Dr. Chrystelle Mayap Njilo is an experienced business administration educator and financial manager with extensive expertise spanning corporate governance, strategic management, finance, accounting, logistics, and tourism. A dedicated academic researcher, her scientific interests focus on optimization in human resources management and the individual, collective, and organizational dimensions of organizational learning. Dr. Mayap Njilo maintains a robust teaching portfolio across several higher education institutions in Cameroon. She serves as a part-time lecturer at the University of Bamenda, where she teaches advanced courses in travel and tourism, strategic procurement, network design, and lodging operations management. Additionally, she lectures at the Pan African Institute for Development West Africa, focusing on OHADA accounting, financial management, international marketing, and portfolio regulations. Her academic tenures also include instructional roles in strategic management and quantitative techniques at the Yaounde International Business School, the Institut Catholique Universitaire Sainte Thérèse of Yaounde, and ISTAG. Before her extensive career in academia, Dr. Mayap Njilo accumulated nearly a decade of operational corporate experience as the Administrative and Financial Manager for Geo design and Biz Sarl. In this capacity, she directed human resources, spearheaded corporate taxation and budget tracking, and managed large-scale public call-for-tender portfolios. Internationally, she spent several years in Northern Cyprus managing student residential facilities, handling administrative admissions, and overseeing personnel as a Building Supervisor and Hall Management Assistant for Cyprus International University. Dr. Mayap Njilo holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) and a Master's degree in Business Administration from Cyprus International University. Her foundational education includes a Master's degree (Maîtrise) and a Bachelor's degree (Licence) in Management Sciences from the University of Yaoundé, preparatory accounting studies at the Université Catholique d'Afrique Centrale, and corporate law training at INTEC Paris. She is a native French speaker, holds a proficient command of English, and has basic self-taught knowledge of Turkish.

Dr. Maurice Henri Tadjuidje is an eminent Cameroonian environmental economist, senior technical advisor, and international evaluation expert with over 24 years of experience driving sustainable development, natural resource governance, climate finance, and disaster risk management across Central Africa. Recognized for his technical leadership, he acts as a Senior Independent Evaluation Team Lead, collaborating closely with prominent regional and international bodies, including the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), COMIFAC, IUCN, the European Union, UNDP, and GIZ. In recognition of his lifelong dedication to ecological sustainability, he was awarded an Honoris Causa Doctorate in Environmental Sustainability in 2024. Dr. Tadjuidje has built an extensive operational track record managing large-scale, multi-donor portfolios funded by institutions such as the World Bank, the African Development Bank, KfW, and the French Development Agency (AFD). Currently, he serves as an Expert Evaluator for FAKT/GIZ, spearheading the central project evaluations for cross-border conservation initiatives like the SBB Yamoussa national parks complex and the Forest-Environment-Climate Project (ProFEC) in Cameroon. His deep regional expertise includes executing complex ex-post, mid-term, and public-private partnership evaluations for critical biosphere networks, including the Yangambi Biosphere Reserve in the DRC and the Dzanga-Sangha Protected Areas in the Central African Republic. Previously, Dr. Tadjuidje directed operations for major sub-regional bodies, notably serving as the Regional Antenna Head for ECCAS's PACEBCo initiative within the Tri-National Sangha landscape. In this capacity, he managed technical and financial workflows, oversaw infrastructure development to combat waterborne illnesses, and reinforced local tracking against zoonotic diseases. He has also engineered green employment frameworks for the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Chad and Cameroon, and driven environmental and social due diligence (E&S Risk Monitoring) for global climate finance initiatives like the "Transforming Financial Systems for Climate" project with the Bank of Industry in Nigeria. Dr. Tadjuidje holds a Master 2 in Project Management and Monitoring-Evaluation from IPD-AC, a Post-Graduate Certificate in Disaster Risk Management from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in India, and a post-graduate diploma (DEA) in Environmental Economics from the University of Yaoundé II (Soa), where he also earned his Master in Quantitative Economics. Dr. Béatrice Kalenga Tshiala is a distinguished Congolese public health executive, academic, and nutrition specialist with over two decades of experience in community healthcare delivery and specialized infant-maternal nutrition. She currently serves as the Deputy Director of the National Nutrition Program (PRONANUT) under the Ministry of Public Health, Hygiene and Social Prevention in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, a leadership role she has executed since 2016. Additionally, she operates as an Associate Professor of Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Bunia by official ministerial appointment. Throughout her career, Dr. Kalenga Tshiala has been an influential figure in shaping national and regional public health policies. She has designed multi-sectoral strategies for the World Bank and UNICEF, led national emergency response teams for public health crises (including Ebola, COVID-19, cholera, and Mpox), and formulated the nutritional protocol for COVID-19 recovery frameworks. Driven by her core professional thesis that investments in nutrition during the critical "first 1,000 days of life" are essential to human capital development, she has actively supported the Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi Foundation and UN Women in mitigating chronic malnutrition across multiple DRC provinces. Her field and institutional experience spans several cross-border collaborations, featuring regional health monitoring and technical sharing missions in Kenya, Senegal, Mali, and Cameroon. She has also driven extensive capacity-building campaigns across all 26 provinces of the DRC, serving as a primary trainer for community-based acute malnutrition workflows. In the civic sector, she is the President of the Nutritionists of Bas-Congo and serves on the Executive Technical Committee for the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement. Dr. Kalenga Tshiala holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and an Advanced Studies Diploma (DEA) in Dietetic Nutrition and Human Food Systems from the Mill Hill School in Kinshasa, both completed with highest honors (Grande Distinction). Her doctoral research focused heavily on maternal-infant nutrition strategies within the Maluku commune. Professor Didier Chuy Kalombola is an international health expert and academic with over two decades of leadership at the intersection of clinical practice, health policy, and scientific research. He currently operates as an Expert and Consultant in Health Policy and Management, serving as an Expert at the Health Knowledge Center in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (CCSC-Asbl) and as the Medical Director of the Tshamilemba Learning and Research Health Center (CSART) in Lubumbashi. In 2024, he also assumed leadership roles as the Head of the Community Health Section at ISTM Lubumbashi and as a Provincial Coordinator for the national population-based HIV impact assessment (CODPHIA). Throughout his career, Professor Chuy Kalombola has bridged the gap between academic theory and frontline healthcare delivery. He has extensive experience managing health zones, supervising medical districts, and coordinating complex epidemiological programs, notably directing long-term research and control strategies for cholera and mental health integration in Lubumbashi. As a trusted partner to international organizations, he has led initiatives and field evaluations alongside the Ministry of Public Health, World Vision, Doctors Without Borders (MSF-Holland), Medicus Mundi Belgium, and ICAP at Columbia University. An accomplished academic and researcher, Professor Chuy Kalombola teaches advanced research methodologies at the School of Public Health of the University of Lubumbashi, the University of Kisangani, and the University of Mbuji Mayi. He is a primary investigator and co-promoter for numerous doctoral theses, with a prolific publication record featuring over thirty scientific articles in international journals. Professor Chuy Kalombola holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Lubumbashi (UNILU), dual Master's degrees in Criminology (UNILU) and Public Health Systems Policy and Management from the Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM) in Antwerp, Belgium, and a PhD in Public Health from UNILU. He also holds an international certification as an Expert in Qualitative and Mixed Research Methods from Nha Trang University in Vietnam. Biomedical Sciences

Idriss Badie Moupain holds an MSc in Clinical Biology with a strong interest in molecular oncology, cancer genomics, and bioinformatics. His research focuses on improving cancer diagnosis and understanding the genetic basis of cancer through genomic data analysis, with particular attention to applying bioinformatics and next-generation sequencing to advance precision oncology. He is passionate about research and committed to building an academic career dedicated to cancer research, teaching, and mentoring the next generation of scientists.

Nursing & Midwifery Sciences

Yanou Katia is a midwife and nurse educator specialised in reproductive health. She holds a Bachelor's degree (Licence) in Midwifery Science and a Master's degree in Nursing Sciences with a specialisation in Reproductive Health. She directs and coordinates research in the fields of reproduction and nursing sciences, with work addressing therapeutic adherence among pregnant women living with HIV/AIDS and the factors limiting the adoption of contraceptive methods among women in post-natal consultation.

Biomedical Sciences

Dr Yannick Carlos Tcheutchoua is a researcher at the Camassistance Health Science Management and Research Institute, specialised in animal physiology, phytotherapy and experimental pharmacology. He is also affiliated with the Department of Animal Biology and Physiology at the University of Yaoundé I. His research focuses on the scientific validation of African medicinal plants and their therapeutic potential in the prevention and management of cardiovascular, metabolic and inflammatory diseases. Dr Tcheutchoua's work explores the pharmacological efficacy, safety and mechanisms of action of medicinal plants used in traditional African medicine. He is the author and co-author of numerous peer-reviewed publications in international scientific journals, including the Journal of Toxicology, Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, and the Journal of Phytopharmacology. His work advances evidence-based phytomedicine, promotes the sustainable use of Africa's medicinal plant resources and strengthens biomedical research in Cameroon and beyond.

Internal Audit & Governance

Ngo Nkous epse Tjalle is a seasoned finance and accounting executive with an extensive track record in internal auditing, risk management, and corporate governance. Known for her analytical rigour and objective perspective, she specialises in designing internal control systems, uncovering operational inefficiencies, and ensuring strict compliance with financial regulations and accounting standards. Throughout her career, she has acted as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, safeguarding organisational assets and driving operational excellence. Her professional experience spans senior internal audit and audit direction, where she shapes annual internal audit charters and delivers strategic risk-assessment reports directly to boards of directors and audit committees, overseeing multidisciplinary teams that evaluate internal control frameworks across multiple operational branches. As a compliance specialist and financial analyst, she has designed testing procedures for core financial cycles, including procurement, payroll, inventory, and cash management, and drafted corrective recommendations that optimised workflows and reduced operational costs.

Jean Ndema Ekomi is an experienced tax jurist and public finance specialist with a distinguished career dedicated to corporate taxation, revenue collection, and fiscal management within public and parapublic enterprises. Currently based in Yaoundé, Cameroon, he offers extensive expertise in designing, structuring, and auditing tax frameworks in strict compliance with legal standards. Over a career spanning more than two decades, Mr. Ndema Ekomi has held several key oversight positions within Cameroon's regional tax administrations and academic institutions. He began his professional path within the Financial Affairs Division at the University of Douala. He then advanced through a series of specialized leadership roles within the Ministry of Finance, serving as Chief of the Special Tax-Budget Unit for the Center Provincial Finance Control, and directing the Markets and Property Transfer Tax Units across both the Center and Adamawa (Ngaoundéré) provincial tax hubs. Mr. Ndema Ekomi's leadership also includes serving as Head of the Special Market Registration Unit at the University of Yaoundé II (Soa).
